JET Jaguars
After a victory vs. EB Shockers, April 13, 2008

JET Jaguars
Sunburst Tournament

The Jet Jags lost their first game today 2-0 in a breakdown in the last 10 min of play. The game wasn't pretty before then but we were holding them scoreless. Unfortunately they were able to exploit our weaknesses in the last part of the game. Lizzie C. had a good game in goal, even though this was her first day back from her injury. Kelsey R., Kerry, Abby, Gabby (guest player) and Lauren (guest player) hustled all over the field. Unfortunately our efforts were not enough.

The Jaguars ended the day with a tie vs. West Windsor in a frustrating battle that could have gone either way. Kerry had the goal for the Jaguars. Madison, Hanna and Kelsey R. stepped up defensively. This is a team we matched up pretty well against so it was nice that we were able to hold them to one goal and get one ourselves. Coach Jen

Play a Great Memorial Day Tourney!

The Jaguars redeemed themselves with a tie on Sunday 2-2. They only had 10 players but out of courtesy the other team played them 10 on 10 after they scored their first goal. Christina A. played stellar defense against their top player and got her head out of the game. Kelsey D. also brought her "A" game today and ruined several chances from our opponents. Taylor led the defense and provided support for the outside wing backs. She also controlled the middle. Tori had a great game in goal and made several game changing plays. She kept us in it.

Katie M. and Gabby played tough in the mid field and made several runs. Katie had an assist on one of Kristen's 2 scores. Gabby gave us several chances with some nice crosses. Bridgette and Lindsay were tenacious on offense and had some opportunities. Kerry played tough at stopper and stepped up when we needed her. Finally K took it to the house twice for us and played her heart out.

The team that played today was a huge step up from what we saw yesterday. Great job Jaguars and thank you guest players.

Results of Tournament 0-2-1

Thanks for showing up today and playing like I know you are capable!

TIE May 18th away game!

Jaguars tield East Brunswick 1-1.  Both teams played with 10 players since EB only had 10.  We scored on a sloppy goal that their gk misplayed.  And they scored on an even sloppier goal that deflected off one of our defenders which changed the direction to beat Hanna into the net.  We had several chances (again) that we could not convert.  Hopefully our team will click in the Memorial Day tournament.

TIE May 11th home game!

Jersey Elite Training Jaguars tied Westfield 3-3 in a hard fought back and forth match.  Hanna G. played a tough game in goal for us and came out several times to make plays and to make the forward miss.  She kept us in the game.  Kerry R. led the scoring with 2 goals-one on a penalty kick and one off a missed clear from the other team.  Kerry also put several crosses/corners together that we just didn't capitalize on.  Katie M. assisted Bridgette M. for the 3rd goal.  It was a nice give n go play and Bridgette found herself one on one with the gk and beat her with a hard shot on the ground to the right.  Lindsay E. had several shots that the gk blocked and she was aggressive on offense.  Charlotte M. and Christina A. also has some chances on offense but we just couldn't get them in the net.  The effort was there though.  Madison L. played strong defensively for us often stepping up to control the player and take away their chances.  Overall great job Jaguars!

JET Jaguars
WIN May 4th away game!

Jaguars won 3-0.  We defeated Berkeley Heights relatively easily.  Katie M. led the scoring with 2 goals, i believe both with her left foot.  Lucia added a goal as well.  The Jaguars pretty much dominated play but the couple of chances they did get were spoiled by our strong defensive play.  The defense, led by Madison, took charge and dictated the tempo.  Kelsey R. took away many chances by attacking the ball and sending it back to give us a chance on offense.  She assisted the second goal because she was able to step up and send the ball to a wide open Katie May.  Hanna G., Christina, Lucia, and Katie all played strong defensively too-pushing the girls wide, away from the goal.  Abby and Kerry controlled the middle of the field and were the work horses of the game.  We played on a large turf field and they had to cover alot of ground.   Lizzie C. and Hanna combined for the shutout.  Go Jaguars!

Lose April 27th home game.

The Jaguars lost 6-0 to a much tougher Piscataway team than they saw the first game of the season. Piscataway recovered from some injuries early on in the year and they fielded a different level team today. I think we still could have beaten them had we played our game instead of letting them dictate the tempo for the first 40 min. We had a great effort and showing today from Madison L. and Hanna G. Kerry R. played some beautiful crosses and corner kicks into the box but we just couldn't convert. Katie M., Lucia F., Lindsday E. and Charlotte M. did a good job offensively in creating opportunities but they couldn't find the net so we did not capitalize on their efforts. The girls all gave 100% and tried their hardest, it just wasn't our day today. Better luck next time Jaguars!

JET Jaguars
TIE April 20th away game!

The Jersey Elite Jaguars played Woodbridge to a 3-3 tie.  The game was back and forth with scoring even though JET had several chances and held their opponent to only a few.  Katie M. scored and Lindsay E. had two goals for the Jaguars.  Abby and Lucia also played well for us on offense.  Hanna G. and Bridgette M. played goalie for us and kept us in the game.  Kelsey R. and Madison L. did a great job defensively!  Great job Jaguars!

Announcement:  Tom Gomez (Hanna's dad) will be my assistant coach on the sidelines.  He took his coaching license class and got his F license and is therefore a legal coach!  He will be helping me coach the games and providing necessary feedback that is just impossible to get with only one coach on the sidelines.  Please help me to welcome him as coach.  Thanks, Coach Jen

WIN April 13th home game!

The Jersey Elite Jaguars got their 3rd win of the season vs. the East Brunswick Shockers, score 3-2. They won despite playing down (even though this time it wasn't their fault; the other team only brought 9 players). The Shockers scored first but we quickly came back to tie it on a goal from Abby J. In the second half Katie M. scored off of a deflection from a shot by Lindsay E. that hit off the goalie. But unfortunately despite our second half domination EB still had some life left and came back to tie it. We had several shots from Kerry R., Lucia F. and Bridgette M. We also had some nice crosses and long balls into the box from Hanna G. and Kelsey R. but just couldn't convert. But with about 5 min. left to play Katie M. scored again to seal our victory. Lizzie C. played a great game defensively in net. Our defense held strong and was led by Madison L. Great win Jaguars!

WIN April 6th away game!

The Jersey Elite Jaguars got their 2nd win of the season vs. the Westfield Breakers.  Kerry Rota took a long shot and Abby Jones and Bridgette McGoorty were there to insure it went in.  Lizzie Carr wasn't tested much but she came up big on a breakaway save in the first half.  She also made a couple nice saves in the second half to secure the shut out.  Hanna Gomez, Kelsey Downie and Madison Luther played great defensively.  Great job Jaguars!

 JET Jaguars
WIN March 30th home game!

The Jaguars won 2-0 vs. Berkeley Heights.  Lucia F. and Christina A. scored the goals.  Hanna G. and Bridgette M. combined for the shut out in net.  Kerry R. dominated the midfield and led the attack.  We also had solid defensive efforts from Kelsey R. and Madison L.
